If you have been in the business world for any small amount of time in the last 100 years, you have heard the adage “change or die”.  I the real estate industry, it still applies.  As Realtor’s we must adapt, update, and stay relevant with culture, the internet, social media, marketing, expertise in the market and showing value.  Its a constant evolution to be able to grow our real estate business.  Those that stay the same start seeing a decline in business or in the market place.  They, some without knowing it, slowly find themselves on the outside looking in.  There is no room for the ego of being stubborn because you want to stay “traditional” just for the sake of being traditional or not wanting to change.

That is NOT to say you should stop an old method that is working.  If it ain’t broke….exactly.  Change for the sake of change is not necessary either.  Abandoning a yacht that is not sinking to jump on a new eco-fueled life raft may not be the smartest move.  You are allowed to “change” while keeping systems and practices in place that you are finding success with in your business.  Adapting and adopting new technologies, methods, or platforms doesn’t mean total abandonment to the old ones, until it is right to do so.

And, one change is not the only change.  In fact, at the rate we have seen technology, internet, and culture move and change, we have to realize that just making one change one time is not going to do it for your career in real estate (or any other business) to grow.  We must evolve as Realtors of change.  Able to be constantly on the look out and in the know for emerging things that affect our business and industry.  Always trying, researching, testing, and adjusting.  Being consistent in our mentality towards change is the win.  We change or die…then we repeat.
